Unique Laser Therapy for Vaginal Dryness
The Komer Women’s Health Clinic has always been an innovator of new therapies. There has been a great need a treatment for problems such as vaginal dryness, vaginal itching, vaginal burning, painful intercourse (dyspareunia) and bladder issues such as pain, urgency, frequency and stress incontinence (losing urine when coughing, laughing, sneezing or exercising). Some of the women in the past have had partial success with past treatments but many women have so been left with inadequate results.
Dr. Komer has now acquired one of the first lasers in Canada to treat these problems. He has evaluated the equipment that has recently been approved by Health Canada. He has trained with two top experts in the United States and is now offering this innovative and successful therapy to Canadian women.
The therapy was specifically designed to treat the painful symptoms of Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause, also known as Vulvovaginal Atrophy that affect postmenopausal women and those that undergo chemically induced menopause from the treatment of breast cancer or other cancers.
The therapy uses a unique vaginal probe to deliver a gentle fractional CO2 laser energy to the vaginal wall tissue. The laser energy targets the atrophic vaginal mucosa by stimulating a metabolic reaction and neocollagenesis. This results in increased vascularization, elastin and collagen which means increased moisture and lubrication in the vagina.
